Where is God in Our Suffering?
Making Sense of the Darkness in Our World
Everywhere we look, there seems to be suffering around us. Omaha natives and Jesuit brothers Joe Hoover, SJ, and Pat Douglas, SJ, share their insight on where God is in the midst of suffering, and offer a perspective on how we can make sense of the darkness we see.
Br. Joe Hoover, SJ, is a Jesuit of the Midwest Province living in New York City while serving as the poetry editor of America Media. His new book, O Death, Where is Thy Sting: Meditations on Suffering is available at bookstores or at Orbis Books.
Br. Pat Douglas, SJ, is the provincial assistant for vocations and a competitive weightlifter. For information on Jesuit vocations, visit beajesuit.org.
