As we enter into the journey of Holy Week, join us to hear from a panel of pilgrims who have walked the Camino de Santiago, including Fr. Rick Millbourn, SJ, leader of multiple pilgrimages. Their reflections on how those experiences shaped their faith lives offer each of us the chance to consider where we are invited to walk with God in our own lives.

About Our Panelists
Fr. Rick Millbourn, SJ, is a 1986 graduate of St. Xavier High School. He went on to earn degrees from Loyola University New Orleans in 1992, Loyola University Chicago in 1993, and the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley in 2000. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1988 and was ordained in 2001. His teaching career has spanned multiple Jesuit institutions, including Brebeuf Jesuit (1993-1996, 2001-2004), Loyola Academy (2004-2006), and St. Xavier High School, where he has been on the faculty since 2010. He currently teaches Bioethics and Walking the Way.
Fr. Millbourn has an extensive pilgrimage history, primarily along the Camino de Santiago. He first walked the Frances Route from Ponferrada in 2016 and from Sarria in 2016, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024, with plans to walk it again in 2025, 2026, and 2027. He has also completed the route from O’Cebreiro in 2022 (with plans to repeat it in 2026) and from St. Jean Pied de Port in 2022. In 2024, he walked the Norte Route, the Ingles Route, and the Finisterre & Muxía route, with plans to embark on the Primitivo Route in 2025.
Mark A. Komanecky is a graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School (1986), Boston College (1990), and Fordham University (1999). He is also a proud St. Xavier High School parent to the classes of 2019 and 2024. As a dedicated member of the St. Xavier Church community, he serves on the parish council and participates in various ministries. After a 34-year career in sales at Procter & Gamble, he is now retired. In 2024, he embarked on a pilgrimage, walking the Camino from August through October.
Mike Lacinak is a 1970 graduate of St. Xavier High School and a parishioner of Bellarmine Chapel. He spent his career as a clinical social worker and is now retired.
Louise Stakelin’s connection to the Jesuit community runs deep. Her son graduated from St. Xavier High School in 2006 and Regis University in 2010, while her daughter earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 2008 and a graduate degree from Georgetown in 2010. She and her husband, Bill, are parishioners of St. Xavier Church. Although retired from CBS Inc., she remains active as a weekly substitute teacher at Summit Country Day School and teaches a Rosary class in 11 CISE schools. In September 2024, she walked the Camino from Sarria to Santiago with three of her five siblings.
Will Klare is a 2023 graduate of St. Xavier High School and is currently a student at the University of Dayton, where he is part of the class of 2027.

On March 28, 2023, the inaugural JFAN Cincinnati event, “A Jesuit Walks Into a Bar…Sit-Down Comedy with Fr. Jake Martin, SJ” was held at The Redmoor. Father Eric Sundrup, SJ, co-hosted the event with more than 230 attendees.
